Wendy Crawford, BA, MAC, CAPC
Fine Art Conservator
Wendy Crawford is a Fine Art Conservator specializing in the treatment of paintings. She is a proud member of the Canadian Association of Professional Conservators (CAPC), the Canadian Association For Conservation Of Cultural Property (CAC) and the American Institute for Conservation (AIC). She joined Art Conservation Services, Inc. in 2014 and continues operations of ACS since 2016.
Wendy received her Honours BA in Art History from McMaster University. She is a graduate of the Collections Conservation and Management program at Sir Sandford Fleming College, where she studied conservation techniques for paper, photographs, and objects of both organic and inorganic materials. She earned a Masters in Art Conservation from Queen’s University, with a specialization in paintings conservation.
Wendy continued her conservation training as a Kress Fellow at the Cincinnati Art Museum, working on conservation and research of their Spanish Baroque collection. She studied with senior conservators at the National Gallery of Canada, the Canadian Conservation Institute, Library and Archives Canada, and in private practice. Wendy regularly continues her training by attending annual conferences and workshops offered by the CAC and AIC.
Wendy is skilled in treatment of a variety of painted media and supports, including oil, watercolour, acrylic, and encaustic paintings on canvas, canvas board, wood panel, ivory and metal. She enjoys repairs to gilded and sculptural frames, conservation treatments of works of art on paper and historical and archival documents and three-dimensional objects and sculptural works. She will offer advice and recommendations on preservation strategies, collections care, and storage and environmental conditions for your art and objects.
